The
first printing of this set was in the same blue as printed on
other US issues which differentiates them, along with the address,
from Canadian issues. As with other US card sets there is a wide
variety of strengths to the blue print which leads to the effect
of dark blue and light blue colours being spotted across a variety
of cards, see examples 1 and 2. Please note that cards from this
printing are listed as 'Dark Blue' in Murray's Cigarette Card
Values.

The turquoise
card backs - example 3, represent a separate reprint altogether.
Most obviously the colour is completely different to even the
palest of blues in the first printing. Please note that cards from
this printing are listed as 'Light Blue' in Murray's Cigarette
Card Values.

Less obviously
is the fact that the black text at the bottom of the cards, containing
the name Rolland has been reset. When overlaid with that of the
first printing this is more noticeable, particularly on the middle
line - please see the example below.

The final
identifier for the reprint is also in this text, and is the 25¢
price. On the 'blue' cards the stroke though the c is clearly
at an angle, whilst on the turquoise cards this strikes thourgh
at 90 degrees.
