33. Horned Poppy

This striking plant with its large yellow flowers, three to four inches across, and its bold bluish leaves, grows on the sandy shores and shingle banks of our coasts. Its name "Horned" refers to the seed pods which, after the plant has flowered, may reach a length of from six to twelve inches. The plant may attain a height of two feet. It has a long flowering period - from June to October.
