13. Globe Flower
(Trollius europaeus L.)
A plant very beautiful in both leaves and flowers, growing in damp places in mountainous districts. Its ball-like flower is composed chiefly of large petal-like sepals which overlap and do not open. The real petals are enclosed in these and are quite small. It grows to a height of about two feet and blooms from May to July. It is a true native wild flower but is not common. |
