Set B6 - Wild Flowers Series 2 - card information

12. Cowslip
(Primula veris L.)

12. Cowslip

The Cowslip grows in open fields and downland, and favours a clayey soil. Often it may be found in large colonies. It blooms in April and May. Like its relative the Primrose its flowers are of two kinds, one having a long style and the other a short one. The two forms are not found in the same flower-head but are borne on separate plants. A well-grown plant is about six to seven inches high.
