Kingcup,
May-blob and Marybud are other old names for this well-known plant
whose handsome golden flowers adorn the streamside and marsh in
spring. At first glance the flowers are like large buttercups,
but whereas the buttercup has yellow petals with green sepals
beneath, the marsh marigold has no true petals. Instead, the sepals
are coloured to resemble petals.
