Set B2 - Wild Flowers - card information

40. Primrose
(Primula vulgaris Huds.)

40. Primrose

One of our most popular spring flowers, the primrose is often dug up and transplanted to gardens. It flourishes in woods and under hedges, and in the west country is common also on cliff tops. The separate stalks of the pale yellow flowers appear to grow direct from the rootstock. Actually there is a common stem, like that of the cowslip, but very short and hidden amongst the leaves.
